BIO

A little girl at the age of 8 picked up a camera and started shooting pictures. Skills developed, techniques emerged, an education was sought out, and Pressly Hall began to find her own niche in the world of lifestyle photography.

After finishing photography school in North Carolina, Pressly went to New York City to develop her intrinsic skills. She worked as assistant studio manager and photo assistant to celebrity photographer Michael O'Neill for two years gaining insight into the world of large production photography, lighting, and editing. Using these skills she went on to work as a freelance photographer in NYC for two more years assisting photographers such as Neil Selkirk, Julie Gang, and Bill Hayward (to mention just a few). In 2002 she returned to her roots in South Carolina and opened Pressly Hall Photography.

With her degrees in Photography and English, Pressly's passion lies in photographic documentation. One of her most prized documentaries is of a pregnant yogi, the home birth and the six-week follow-up of the newborn. In contrast, her second favorite documentary is the age-old process of turning sugar cane into sorghum.

Whether shooting commercial shoots, portraits, or documentaries each of her photographs tell a story. The depth of the story stems from her preference of shooting on location and leaving the environment "as is and natural." If at all possible, she will use only natural light and props. The result is novelty in a normal environment.

Currently one of her life long dreams is coming to fruition. This Fall she will be launching Pressly Hall Note Cards (PHN). Ever since Pressly was very small, she has used photographs, paints and whatever else she could find to make people happy with handmade note cards. The note cards have been anything from funny to spectacular. Through the years the demand for these cards has grown. PHN will have numerous lines of cards including a line specifically for men, quilters, equestrians, brides, and the funny "Pearls of Life" (which are only 5 of the current 20+ lines).

In her spare time Pressly enjoys nature, cooking and spending time with her daughter Pearl, husband Pierce and dog Azalee.
